Job Description

ESS are looking to hire a dedicated and reliable kitchen assistant or trainee chef to assist the chef in our busy friendly Community Hub & Café Monday to Sunday.

Hours: Full Time and Part Time hours available to include some weekends or/and evenings.
Pay: Starting Rate - National Minimum Wage

Experience is preferred although apprenticeship applicates are welcome.
Flexible working hours to meet business needs.

Duties include however are not limited to:

  • Cleaning and sanitising food preparation areas to establish proper hygiene.
  • Washing and storing all cooking appliances, utensils, cutting boards, and dishes
  • Assisting Chef by performing basic preparatory tasks, including washing, and cuttingproduce, combining ingredients in recipes
  • Sweeping and mopping kitchen floors and wiping walls
  • Receiving, labelling, and storing deliveries
  • Promptly responding to instructions
  • Comply with all food health and safety regulations.
  • To assist Chef complete food orders and keep the kitchen working efficiently.

safety regulations.

Kitchen Assistant Skills & Responsibilities:

  • To assist Chef complete food orders and keep the kitchen working efficiently.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and work quickly and efficiently.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to enjoy working with others
  • Keenness to follow instructions and prepare ingredients according to the Chef’s directions
  • Organisation skills and the ability to keep track of kitchen inventory.
  • Knowledge of cooking techniques and methods
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations regarding food preparation and storage
  • Basic understanding of how to use kitchen equipment.
  • Excellent personal hygiene
