SEND Science Teacher

Job Description

SEND Science Teacher KS3 and KS4

Part-time and permanent, 3 days per week

Qualified Teacher’s Pay Scale

Starting January 2025

Bridgwater College Academy is looking for a SEND Science Teacher to work within their specialist autism resource base from January 2025. The Polden Centre is a vibrant and creative specialist ASC provision; we are keen to employ an enthusiastic, flexible and inclusive practitioner as part of the team. The ability to adapt and deliver the Science curriculum to suit the needs of our students is key to this role. Teaching would be on a 1:1 or small group basis, sometimes supported by a SEND LSA.

Support for the role will be provided from the Science Head of Department as well as a very experienced ASC resource base team.

As a special educational needs (SEND) teacher you may also plan and deliver personalised curriculums to ensure students reach their full potential. You would be supported by the ASC Head of Centre and Lead Autism Teacher to fulfil this role. The students in the Polden Centre all have EHCPs with a diagnosis of autism or social communication and sensory needs.

We are looking for someone who:

  • is committed to inclusion and enthusiastic about working with students with SEND
  • has the skills to work collaboratively within a team
  • can build positive relationships with students and parents;
  • is highly motivated and willing to embrace or bring new ideas to the centre;
  • is committed to developing their own skills.

If you decide to join our team then we can offer:

  • a nurturing, inclusive specialist environment
  • a strong and supportive team of professionals;
  • an inclusive academy with high aspirations for all of its students and staff;

Visits to the Polden Centre or informal telephone discussions about the role are highly recommended and welcomed. Contact Polden Centre Head of Centre Sarah Wharton to arrange this.
